FOR THE FIRST TIME IN BELARUS, A HACKATHON ON CREATING STARTUPS FOR "SMART CITIES" AMONG STUDENTS OF HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

On October 8, 2024, an online Hackathon on creating startups for a smart city will be held. In our country, this is the first national-scale event organized for students of higher education institutions in order to create urban startups. 

The creation of "smart" sustainable cities with a high level and quality of life for our citizens is one of the priorities of the digital development of the Republic of Belarus and the main goal of the large–scale work being carried out in the country today to implement the "Smart Cities of Belarus" project of the future

In order to involve interested young people with creative ideas and smart proposals in the promising topic of smart cities, the International Telecommunication Union, together with the Belarusian State Academy of Communications and with the support of the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus, is holding a Hackathon for students of Belarusian universities to create startups for a smart city. More than 20 teams representing institutions of higher education of the Republic of Belarus are expected to participate in the hackathon. 

The event's partners are telecom operators A1, Beltelecom and Belarusian Cloud Technologies, as well as Epol Soft, Svyazinvest and private startup accelerator Zborka Labs

During the month, online startup creation trainings and meetings with mentors will be organized for Hackathon participants, who will help them form their idea for the project, build a business model, make an MVP and present their startup in the finals, November 26, 2024. 

The teams that presented the best startups, according to the jury, will be awarded with valuable gifts and diplomas.
