Minister Took Part in the Partner2Connect Meeting

Today, on September 21, the Minister of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus Konstantin Shulgan took part in the Partner2Connect Meeting, which was held as a side event of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.

As a result of the Meeting, it was announced the launch of the Partner2Connect Digital Coalition, created to foster the implementation of projects in various countries of the world in order to develop telecommunications infrastructure and digital transformation.

In the course of his speech, the Minister of Communications and Informatization presented information on the work of the Republic of Belarus on digitalization and development of prospective modern technologies on the basis of state programs in compliance with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the International Telecommunication Union Recommendations and other international best practices.

In particular, he noted that the State Program "Digital Development of Belarus for 2021-2025" is currently being implemented in the Republic of Belarus, aimed at ensuring the introduction of modern information and communication and advanced production technologies in various sectors of the national economy and spheres of society which activities are closely related to the achievement at the national level of the UN Sustainable Development Goals for the period up to 2030, and cited the values of the main SDG indicators in the development of information and communication technologies achieved by the Republic of Belarus.

In his address, the Minister focused on the fact that the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of Belarus fully supports the idea of the launch of the Partner2Connect Digital Coalition for the implementation of joint projects aimed at further development of telecommunications infrastructure, digital services, the formation of digital ecosystems, stimulating investment in all countries of the world.

In conclusion, Konstantin Shulgan expressed confidence that in the future our interaction with the International Telecommunication Union and other UN agencies will deepen contributing to the achievement of the SDGs, bridging the digital divide and building the most modern information and communication infrastructure for further digital development, enabled also by the work of the Partner2Connect Digital Coalition.
