ITU’s Measuring digital development: Facts and figures 2020 offers a snapshot of the most important ICT indicators, including estimates for the current year. Latest figures show a wide urban-rural connectivity gap. Large swathes of the rural landscape are still not covered by a mobile broadband network, and fewer households in these areas have Internet access. The data also reveal that mobile cellular subscriptions are declining for the first time in history and that global growth in mobile broadband subscriptions is levelling out. On a more optimistic note, where connectivity is available, and affordable, young people everywhere are enthusiastic adopters. While just over half the global population overall is using the Internet, among young people aged 15 to 24, this figure rises to almost 70 per cent. In 2020, as part of the conversion of the radio frequency spectrum, the coverage of 4G cellular services for the entire population of the Gomel region was provided. In the near future, the 4G network will be significantly expanded in the territory of the Mogilev region, and by the end of 2022 it will be available to almost the entire population of the republic.
