Cellular mobile telecommunications operators together with the Belarusian Railway carry out a complex of organizational and technical measures aimed at improving the quality of mobile cellular telecommunications services along the main railways. Particular attention is paid to providing access to the Internet network within rolling stock using Wi-Fi technology.

This set of measures provides the additional construction of 36 mobile cellular base stations of UE "VELCOM" and 127 base stations of JLLC "Mobile Telesystems".

Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn and Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Mariya Gabriel are in Belarus to participate in the 10th Eastern Partnership Informal Partnership Dialogue held in the country’s capital on 21-22 June.

On 21 June, 2018 the first segment of the 10th round of informal ministerial dialogues of the Eastern Partnership countries will take place. Thematic meetings and plenary sessions on the harmonisation of digital markets will be held.

According to the Report the CIS region is ranked 2nd on the ICT development index (IDI) among the 6 ITU geographical regions, behind Europe and ahead of the American region, Africa, Arab nations, and the Asian-Pacific region.

In 2019 the Republic of Belarus will host the 2nd European Games.
A Subcommittee on information technologies was established under the Ministry of Communications in accordance with the instruction of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus given at the meeting of the Republican Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the 2nd European Games in 2019 in the Republic of Belarus.
