Workshop on organization of the IT-block at the upcoming 2nd European Games took place at the Ministry of Communications and Informatization

In 2019 the Republic of Belarus will host the 2nd European Games.
A Subcommittee on information technologies was established under the Ministry of Communications in accordance with the instruction of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus given at the meeting of the Republican Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the 2nd European Games in 2019 in the Republic of Belarus.

2017 Message from the Director General

World Post Day is celebrated each year on 9 October. The event was originally created by the 1969 Universal Postal Congress in Tokyo as a means of marking the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union"s creation in 1874.

Today, the main purpose of World Post Day is to raise awareness of the Post"s role in the everyday lives of people and businesses, as well as its contribution to global social and economic development.

The Republic of Belarus is ranked 29-th out of 148 countries according to the ranking of percentage of households connected to the Internet

Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development published the report “Broadband Status: Broadband for Sustainable Development (September 2017)". The report illustrates the dynamics of development regarding such telecommunication indicators as: broadband subscribers and households connected to the Internet.

On Belarus' participation in ITU Telecom World 2017

Delegation of Belarus headed by Minister of telecommunications and informatization Mr Sergei Popkov takes part in the annual International Telecommunication Union's event — ITU Telecom World — 2017, which is held on September 25 — 28, 2017 in Busan (Republic of Korea).

This year ITU Telecom World focuses on building smart digital society, in particular on such issues as artificial intelligence, smart banking and smart cities.

Within the framework of participation in the ITU Telecom-2017 in Busan, the Minister of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus Sergey Popkov held talks with ITU Secretary-General Houlin Zhao. During the talks the topical issues related to international development trends of information and communication technologies at the present stage and further development of cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and ITU were discussed.

Sergei Popkov, Minister of Communications and Informatization, takes part in the ITU World event “ITU Telecom World - 2017” in Busan (the Republic of Korea)

From September 25, 2017 till September 28, 2017 the ITU World event “ITU Telecom World - 2017” takes place in Busan (the Republic of Korea). The Republic of Korea is one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world and the leader according to ITU Development Index 2016. Minister of Communications and Informatization Sergei Popkov and the leading representatives of government bodies and the ICT industries from all over the world gathered at the World event.

Delegation of Vietnam Post (VNPost) visited RUE “Belpochta”

The delegation of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam headed by Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, President&CEO, Vietnam Post (VNPost), paid an official visit to RUE “Belpochta” on 15 September 2017.

On behalf of RUE “Belpochta” the delegation of Vietnam was received by Mr. Uladzimir Matusevich, Director General of RUE “Belpochta”, Ms. Elena Skripchik, First deputy Director General of RUE “Belpochta”, Ms.Elena Drozdovich, Head of Direction of technological support, operations and postal security of RUE “Belpochta”.

Data centre construction took 2 years with total amount of investments approaching $20 mln.

Another $30-50 mln are planned to be invested in further expansion considering demand on the services offered. Export potential during first years of operation is expected on the level of $2-5 mln. velcom DC will be 41st in the international chain of telecom giant America Movil. Design and construction was done in full compliance with international standards taking into account current demand on domestic and foreign market. Data centre was certified by Uptime Institute (UI) as Tier III compliant in the categories Design and Facility based on international reliability standards.

International forum “Eurasian Week” opened in Astana today

The second annual international forum "Eurasian Week" takes place in Astana (Republic of Kazakhstan) within the framework of the International Exhibition "EXPO-2017" from August 24 to August 26, 2017. The international forum "Eurasian Week" is attended by Dmitry Shedko, First Deputy Minister of Communications and Informatization.
